Austrian lawyer Bettina Knoetzl is named “Lawyer of the Year”
London/Vienna – 16th May, 2017 – A special international recognition as “Lawyer of the year” in Asset Recovery has been awarded to Bettina Knoetzl by Who’s Who Legal, Law Business Research Ltd., London. Ms. Knoetzl is the first lawyer from Europe to receive this award.
“This is a wonderful success for our team, a very special honor for me and our whole firm. I’m delighted that Austria’s position in the international legal community has been so highlighted! This recognition has been a pleasant surprise and makes everyone here at KNOETZL feel that they have contributed mightily to being singled-out for such an award while being laser-focused on achieving our clients’ successes”, says KNOETZL partner, Bettina Knoetzl. She accepted the prize Monday evening at a charity gala dinner hosted at London Plaisterer’s Hall by Who’s Who Legal. The award recognizes her extraordinary commitment, long-term experience and notable successes in the area of asset recovery.
Ms. Knoetzl explains: “The aim of lawyers specializing in this area is the global tracking and recovery of assets in favor of investors, banks, creditors, governments or victims of fraud in a business and financial environment. Generally, asset recovery is an aspect of complex, often international, disputes, where lawyers use the help of civil and commercial courts as well as criminal authorities, often working in cooperation with prosecution authorities. Both areas have been part of our special work for many years. We work with strong international networks of specialists who can act competently and efficiently at a high level. The ICC FraudNet to which I belong is such a network.”
Ms. Knoetzl has been representing high-profile clients in complex business disputes for over 20 years. For decades, she has continually honed her firm’s dispute resolution specialization within the legal profession on a national and international level. She is currently the senior co-chair of the worldwide Litigation Committee of the International Bar Association, the global voice of the legal profession. In many high-profile disputes before civil and criminal courts, she has tallied remarkable wins, leading her clients to successes, including before the Supreme Court. For about 20 years, she has been a trained mediator and also deals with alternative dispute resolution methods that save clients’ time and money.
In 2016, Bettina Knoetzl left a large law firm to team up with a number of accomplished Austrian and international lawyers to establish the firm KNOETZL, which focuses on resolving disputes including before national courts and international arbitration tribunal panels. The firm specializes exclusively in dispute resolution, including civil litigation, arbitration, asset recovery/tracing, business criminal law, compliance and corporate crisis management.
