Florian Haugeneder chaired the first virtual Arb|Aut Forum with Katharina Auernig (Higher Regional Court, Vienna), Daniel Girsberger (University of Lucerne, Wenger Vieli, Lucerne) and Helmut Ortner (Wilmer Hale, London) as panelists on the topical issue of “Due Process and Online Arbitration”.

The current COVID-19 lockdown means that client meetings, expert interviews and oral hearings can only be conducted through online tools. The panel explored the challenges posed by online arbitration in regard to the right to be heard and due process as well as the practical challenges of online hearings.

A particular focus was given to the most recent decisions of the Austrian Supreme Court on the parties’ right to an oral hearing in arbitration.
